PortfolioAssemblage – Masque du Jour (2013)

Jan created 2 masks for “The Human Face” invitational in 2013 at Art Enterprise Center, Covington KY. She wrote “I find it easier to face life’s challenges with a little help from my friends – two alter egos I’ve mined from other cultures. The Koshare – sacred clowns of the Pueblo peoples – participate in social reform with wit and humor, and though typically male, I’ve conjured up a girlfriend version. She helps to keep the mood light when risk of confrontation looms. My Chinese water dragon shows up when I am wearied by some upriver swim, magically boosting my strength and stamina.”
